Sargeant Reckless, a magnificant mongolian mare that became a national hero. Named "Reckless" by the marines fighting in the Korean war, started her military career as a pack horse, and ended with the rank of Sergeant! Reckless held a very important job during the war carrying heavy ammunition to the Marines at the front lines. At the Battle of Outpost Vegas in March 1953, Reckless carried almost 5 tons of ammunition over the course of a few days through "no man's land" to the frontlines, and also carried wounded soldiers to safety. During a time where female roles were very limited, Reckless rose to the top and received numerous honors, including two purple hearts. In 1959, Reckless retired to Camp Pendleton where she received her final promotion to Staff Sergeant. This 1:9 scale model is authentically crafted and hand painted.
